China publishes its July-August generative AI filings, with 1,112 services now cleared
The Cyberspace Administration of China listed 124 newly filed generative AI services for July and August 2026 and restated the duty on apps to display the model name and filing number of the service they use.
What this basis means: Regulatory filing, government body, court or industry association.
The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) published its periodic list of filed generative AI services on 14 September 2026 at 18:00 Beijing time. The announcement is made under the Interim Measures for the Administration of Generative AI Services (生成式人工智能服务管理暂行办法).
The CAC recorded 124 services that completed national filing (备案) during July and August 2026, of which 7 run on-device (手机端侧). A further 133 applications and functions that call filed models through an API were registered (登记) with provincial and municipal CAC offices in the same period. Cumulative totals to 31 August 2026 stand at 1,112 services filed and 731 applications registered.
The announcement restates an existing obligation rather than creating a new one: a deployed application that uses a filed generative AI service must display the model name and its filing or online number publicly, either prominently in the app or on its product detail page.
The requirement bears directly on vertical-drama applications operating in China that generate or assist scripts, voices or imagery with third-party models, because the disclosure attaches to the deploying app rather than to the model provider. The publication is an administrative listing under an instrument already in force. It is not a new rule and not an enforcement action.
