- A+E Global Media puts microseries at centre of distribution plan ahead of Mipcom
A+E Global Media said almost 200 of its programmes have been reformatted as microseries for third-party licensing, and that it plans seven original vertical series for the Lifetime app by the end of 2026.

At the Access Canada Summit during the Toronto film festival, VertTV's Jeffrey Schenck argued against AI-made verticals while Snow Story's Austin Herring said the format is more than television.

A 6-K furnished on 3 September attaches a RMB5,992,185.94 laboratory procurement contract whose exhibit describes YeeZo as creating short-drama projects from a text description. The company says no revenue has been recognised.
- James Franco headlines a Shortical microdrama made without AI performances
Variety reported on 12 August that Love, Lies & Frank is streaming on Shortical and counts among the first series produced under SAG-AFTRA's Verticals Agreement. The production used no AI-generated performances or digital replicas, per the company.
- Inkitt to launch Ironblood, an all-AI action and science-fiction vertical app
Announced for 15 July, it is billed as the first microdrama app devoted to action, science fiction and superhero titles, fully AI-generated, with around 30 titles a month.
- The9 signs Chengdu Lumosi for AI short drama built on TVB's The Greed of Man
The Nasdaq-listed Shanghai company holds an exclusive mobile game licence for the 1992 TVB serial and says it has begun developing AI-generated short drama formats within those rights. It repeated the disclosure in a July shelf registration.
