Sony Pictures Television has signed a multiyear first-look deal with content creator Thea Von Engelbrechten, who runs the Moletown Drama accounts, Variety reported on 22 October 2026. Variety says the accounts have 2.5 million TikTok followers and 1 million Instagram followers. Sony gets first-look rights to develop and produce original series from her.

The first project is Hazelwood, which Variety calls a microdrama and describes as a darkly comedic animated microseries. It premieres on Friday 13 November on YouTube. Episodes run a few minutes each and are released on Fridays on YouTube, then move to TikTok and Instagram on Sundays.

Hazelwood is animated and made for social platforms. It is not a vertical-drama app title of the kind sold through ReelShort or DramaBox.
