German committee's final vote on streamer investment obligation reported postponed
The Bundestag culture committee's concluding deliberation on the MedienInvestVG, planned for the week of 3 November, will not take place, DWDL reported, although the committee's published agenda still listed the bill for 4 November.

The Bundestag's Committee for Culture and Media will not conclude its deliberation on the MedienInvestVG this week, DWDL reported on 3 November 2026, citing the trade outlet THE SPOT. The governing coalition remains divided on the bill, and the Greens have tabled new amendments, according to the report.
The committee's notice of 29 October for its 30th sitting, on 4 November at 14:30, lists the government bill (Bundestag paper 21/7820) as agenda item 1, with votes requested for 4 November. No new date for the committee's conclusion was reported.
The same DWDL report described an online survey commissioned by the Motion Picture Association's member streamers, among 1,000 respondents, in which 40% opposed an investment obligation and 20% supported it. DWDL noted that fewer than a third of respondents had heard of the plans before the survey. Amazon's head of Germany, Rocco Bräuniger, criticised the bill's rights-reversion provision.
The bill would require audiovisual media providers to invest 8% of annual net turnover in European and German-language works.
