What this basis means: Third-party research vendor estimate. The vendor is named wherever the source identifies it.

DataEye's ADX data for the first half of 2026, published on 16 July, counts more than 221,900 AI short dramas and manga dramas launched network-wide in China. Of those, 1,055, or 0.47%, passed 100m views, and about 12,000, or 5.4%, passed 10m. The vendor describes more than 90% as flops, using the term 炮灰, cannon fodder.

Two qualifications belong with the figures. The piece is vendor-authored, bylined 文|DataEye研究院, rather than press recirculation of another party's report. But it is a trade column with a commercial payload - it promotes Migu's AIGC platform - rather than a formal report, and it discloses no methodology. DataEye's most recent formal report was dated 30 April 2026.

The numbers are the clearest available measure of supply in AI-generated vertical: a very large volume at the top of the funnel, and a small share of titles reaching a substantial audience.
