A Commission Opinion published 9 July records the 8 July conclusion that the code adequately covers Article 50(2), (4) and (5). Adherence is expressly not conclusive evidence of compliance.

What this basis means: Regulatory filing, government body, court or industry association.

The Commission Opinion on the assessment of the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-generated Content, published 9 July 2026, records that "On july 8, the Commission concluded that the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-generated content adequately covers the obligations provided for in Articles 50(2), (4) and (5) AI Act… The following day, the AI Board adopted its Adequacy Assessment."

The Opinion describes the code as "the EU-wide adequate instrument… regardless of place of establishment, operation or competent market surveillance authority", and sets an express limit: "Adherence to the code does not constitute conclusive evidence of compliance with these obligations."

Signature had been conditional on a positive adequacy assessment. That condition is now satisfied, and the code is an available EU-wide route from 2 August 2026, with a stated residual.

The AI Office will consider formal updates at least every two years, so the text signatories adhere to is not fixed at its current version.
