What this basis means: Regulatory filing, government body, court or industry association.

Germany's AI market surveillance and innovation promotion act (KI-Marktüberwachungs- und Innovationsförderungs-Gesetz, KI-MIG) entered into force on 29 July 2026. It makes the Bundesnetzagentur the national coordinator, market surveillance authority, contact point and complaints body for the AI Act, and gives it an AI service desk (KI-Service Desk) and regulatory sandboxes. The designation was set out in BMDS press release PM 47/2026. BaFin gained separate competences.

Market surveillance provisions covering Annex III systems apply from 2 August 2026.

The statute's name is widely miscopied. The primary text reads Marktüberwachungs- und Innovationsförderungs-Gesetz, not the frequently reproduced "Management- und Implementierungsgesetz".

The practical effect is that an Article 50 marking complaint in Germany now has a named national addressee.
