RTLZWEI announced on 2 July 2026 a vertical spin-off of its long-running soap Berlin – Tag & Nacht. The company describes the project as mobile and social-first content for TikTok and its own platforms, including RTL+. A start date has not been announced.
It is the first German commercial broadcaster to commit to the format. The public-service side is already in it: ARD has Between The Beats and a planned young-adult vertical service, 3 Minuten. Both halves of the German television market are now developing vertical drama for the audience that has historically watched daily soaps.
