Kuaishou reports short-play supply up more than fivefold since January
The platform's interim results for the six months to 30 June 2026 describe a more than fivefold increase in the supply of short plays, counting live-action and AI-generated titles together, against a January 2026 base.
What this basis means: Regulatory filing, government body, court or industry association.
Kuaishou's results announcement for the three and six months ended 30 June 2026, filed with the Hong Kong exchange on 19 August 2026, states that as of June 2026 the supply of short plays on its platform, including both live-action and AI-generated short plays, increased by more than fivefold compared with January 2026.
The figure describes supply, meaning the number of titles available, and not revenue, users or watch time. The comparison runs from January to June 2026, a five-month base rather than a year.
The same filing reports that marketing spend driven by short plays more than doubled year on year. It also notes that a work produced with the company's Kling AI system was named an annual featured work in the short play and micro-short play category at the 2026 Beijing International Film Festival.
Kuaishou renders the Chinese term duanju as short play rather than short drama throughout the filing.
