RTLZWEI has produced a vertical spin-off of Berlin - Tag & Nacht
RTLZWEI said it has produced Berlin - Tag & Nacht: Next Generation, a vertical drama in 9:16 format. No platform, episode count or launch date was given, and the broadcaster called monetisation an open question.
What this basis means: Disclosed by the company about itself, and not independently confirmed.
German broadcaster RTLZWEI has produced Berlin - Tag & Nacht: Next Generation, a vertical drama spun off from its long-running daily series, programme chief Malte Kruber told trade magazine Blickpunkt:Film in an interview published on 10 September 2026.
"We have just produced the vertical drama," Kruber said, adding that it would come to a range of platforms soon and would continue the existing brand in 9:16 format in a shorter and faster storytelling form. He described the project as a joint test balloon, "because monetisation remains a question" ("weil dahinter die Monetarisierung eine Frage bleibt").
No platform, episode count, launch date or budget was named. Vittorio Valente, head of producer Filmpool, said he had seen the first episodes. The spin-off was first reported in July 2026 without a title.
Kruber put viewing of the parent series on RTL+ at 1.34bn minutes between June 2025 and June 2026; Valente cited 1.61m YouTube subscribers and about 1m TikTok followers. All figures are company-claimed.
