Vertical microseries enter cinema pre-shows via aTwist and National CineMedia

The arrangement places vertical series on more than 18,500 screens in over 1,650 theatres, with each preview closing on a QR code that sends the audience to the app.

What this basis means: Reported by a named news outlet, and traceable to neither a filing, a research vendor, nor the company itself.

aTwist and National CineMedia said on 17 June 2026 that vertical microseries would run in cinema pre-show programming, TheWrap reported. The arrangement covers more than 18,500 screens in over 1,650 theatres across the National CineMedia network.

Brands can sponsor aTwist originals and commission branded vertical content for the pre-show; unbranded aTwist microseries also run. Each preview closes with a QR code directing the audience to the aTwist app to continue the series. TheWrap described the arrangement as the first time vertical-first storytelling would play on cinema screens.

Mike Rosen, chief revenue officer of National CineMedia, said the partnership brings new content to the pre-show and gives brands a way to reach an audience drawn to the format. Jana Winograde, chief executive of aTwist, said it introduces microseries to moviegoers.

The screen and theatre figures describe the reach of the National CineMedia network rather than audience numbers or impressions. Neither company disclosed spend, fees or any revenue share.
