aTwist sets 3 September launch and signs Hartbeat as exclusive vertical partner
The US microseries platform, which had named no launch date as of June, will open on 3 September. Kevin Hart's Hartbeat will supply more than 20 original microseries. No financial terms were disclosed.
What this basis means: Reported by a named news outlet, and traceable to neither a filing, a research vendor, nor the company itself.
aTwist, the US vertical microseries platform founded by Jana Winograde, Susan Rovner and Lloyd Braun, will launch on 3 September 2026. TheWrap reported the date on 1 September 2026, and the company's own site carries it as "Launching on September 3rd". In June 2026 TheWrap had reported that no specific launch date had been announced.
The platform opens with an exclusive vertical-originals partnership with Hartbeat, the studio founded by Kevin Hart. Deadline reported the deal on 1 September 2026. Hartbeat will supply more than 20 original microseries and take a dedicated destination inside the aTwist app. Comedy titles will run under Hartbeat's LOL banner, alongside adaptations of the author Blake Karrington's book series, co-produced with Upscale Productions. Jeff Clanagan, president and chief distribution officer of Hartbeat, said the approach begins with an audience that already exists.
Neither company disclosed financial terms. Accounts of the co-producer differ: C21Media describes it as Upscale Promotions & Entertainment, founded by Malik Davis, while Deadline and TheWrap name Upscale Productions. aTwist says more than 20 series are in production across scripted, unscripted and animation.
