Talpa's KIJK to add vertical strand KIJK Shorts in early 2027
The Dutch free streaming service will open a vertical environment inside its existing app rather than a separate one. The first production is a medical microdrama, Code Rood. The service will be free, and branded formats were named as a revenue line at announcement.

KIJK, the free ad-supported streaming service of Talpa Network in the Netherlands, will launch a vertical strand called KIJK Shorts in early 2027, the company announced on 2 September 2026.
KIJK Shorts is described as a new environment within KIJK rather than a standalone application. It will carry short vertical series free of charge in Dutch, combining new drama and reality originals with titles from the Talpa library. Mo Cornelisz, head of KIJK, said the service wants to be relevant to viewers who watch differently, describing mobile, vertical viewing in short episodes built around hooks and cliffhangers.
The first production is Code Rood, a medical microdrama with Carolien Spoor, Thijs Boermans, Juvat Westendorp and Bertrie Wierenga. Marlies Huisman, head of drama, said the series combines the elements of a drama series in a form suited to fast mobile viewing.
Talpa said KIJK is seeking collaboration with creators for new stories and formats, and with brands for branded formats. No launch date beyond early 2027 and no budget were disclosed.
