French microdrama app Sweetz launches on iOS with over 1m euros in seed funding
Nation and Kovalee announced a full iOS release for Sweetz, backed by a seed round of more than 1m euros raised from media and audiovisual companies rather than financial investors. M6 Group was named among the backers.

Sweetz, a French microdrama application, was announced on 3 September 2026 as moving from a beta over the summer to a full iOS release, backed by a seed round of more than 1m euros ($1.1m).
The app is a joint undertaking of Nation, a French studio working with AI production tools, and Kovalee, a Paris-based mobile app publisher. It carries short vertical episodes in French across romance, thriller, reality and dating, and is listed on the French App Store as Sweetz - Short Drama Francais.
The App Store record gives an original release date of 14 April 2026 and a most recent version, 1.1.5, dated 31 August 2026. The listing therefore predates the announcement. The companies described the step as a move out of beta rather than a first appearance in the store.
The seed round brought together a group of established media and audiovisual companies rather than financial investors. M6 Group, the French commercial broadcaster, was named among the backers. No lead investor was disclosed, and the companies did not state whether any part of the round was non-dilutive.
The companies gave no download or subscriber figures. Sweetz enters a French market that already carries Luni's Shorts.
