Character.AI launched an in-house microdrama studio on 9 July 2026 with three AI-produced vertical shows: 'Last Summer', an anime romance; 'The Nighttime Game', supernatural horror; and 'Eden Fall', a survival series. Each runs ten episodes of under two minutes. The first eight episodes of a series are free and the last two are paywalled. What distinguishes it from live-action apps such as ReelShort and DramaBox is an interactive chat with the characters after each episode, gated to over-18s, with roleplay of alternate storylines; the company says it intends to let users create their own AI-character series. It says its studio team is drawn from Netflix, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks and Blumhouse. Chief executive Karandeep Anand frames the effort as avoiding "video slop".
