Flipkart opens a microdrama section inside its shopping app, Indian outlets report
Entrackr said on 2 September that it had seen a Play tab with a Drama section live in the app. Inc42, reporting the same afternoon, described the feature as being tested and recorded no confirmation from the company.
What this basis means: Reported by a named news outlet, and traceable to neither a filing, a research vendor, nor the company itself.
Two Indian technology outlets reported on 2 September 2026 that Flipkart, the Walmart-owned e-commerce platform, has added short-form drama to its main shopping application.
Entrackr reported that it had seen the section live, describing a Play tab in the app's bottom navigation bar containing two rubrics, Explore for creator content and Drama for microdramas. It named ten titles, among them CEO Se Romeo, Contract Marriage, Boss Bahu and Ishq Ibadat, and named Anupam Kher, Rasika Dugal and Mandira Bedi as appearing talent.
Inc42, publishing 43 minutes later, described the same feature in weaker terms: that Flipkart is testing a microdrama feed within its app, with personalised rails, and is in talks with content producers including Terribly Tiny Tales and Pratilipi. Inc42 said it had approached Flipkart for comment and had not received one. It also reported that content would come from Pinkvilla, which Flipkart acquired in 2025 for an undisclosed sum.
Both outlets credit Moneycontrol as first to report. Flipkart has issued no statement, and no monetisation model for the section has been described.
